Craft for VA Hospital Residents

We last went to visit the residents of the VA Hospital at Christmas. We sang carols and passed out the candy cane reindeer we had made. This month we planned to do a Bar-B-Que for the residents who could leave their room. Our Sunday School class has done this before and it is always a great success. The residents love the opportunity to visit and hear the kids sing.

Unfortunately, there was sickness in our family this weekend, so we couldn't accompany our Sunday School class to the VA, but we did get to help make bookmarks for each of the residents. There are just about 100 men and a few women who live there. We look forward to the opportunity to go again soon.

Service work

We went to help a couple within our church on Tuesday. We picked up sticks so that they would be able to mow. It was a beautiful day outside and we were very happy to "cut class" that day!
Ronnie was the driver, while the rest of us loaded sticks into the trailer. Then they unloaded them on the other side of the fence. Dixie was happy for the company!
Mary plugged in to her "tunes" while she worked.

Volunteer work

The kids have really put their heart into the volunteer activities we've participated in this Fall. Mary, Britany and Lizzy fed the homeless with our Sunday School class in November, and all of the kids participated in packing lunches which would be passed out to anyone who came in for a meal. In December all of us went with our Sunday School class to sing Christmas Carols at the VA's convelescent home. While we were there, the kids passed out reindeer candy canes that we all made. Britany and I also volunteer in AWANA Cubbies. I do the story and she does the puppet show.

I've been really impressed with all of the kids desire to give. They have truly given their all to each activity we're had the opportunity to be involved in.
